The second the iPad was announced at the Apple Event our office broke out into laughter in a moment of grade school humor. Either this was created by a group of daughterless men who don’t know that the word pad is linked to menstruation for the majority of women or they thought the power of Apple branding and PR would override this basic human truth. Either way, Twitter and Facebook are working overtime as they pile up with period jokes while people in New England are wondering how to differentiate talking about their iPod and their iPad. Turns out MadTV beat us to the punch. All the way back in 2006 mind you. Fox’s now-defunct sketch comedy show, made this fake tv advertisement years ago for the “iPad”–a menstruation device that hooks to your computer. Apple probably should have done some due diligence and Googled “iPad” before choosing this name.
MadTV’s NSFW 2006 Apple iPad Spoof Revisited [VIDEO]

Although the Apple iPad was officially announced today, the name was actually coined nearly four years ago – by MadTV and a particularly raunchy sketch about bodily functions.
Back in 2006, TUAW posted this sketch and praised it for its use of satire: “The ‘iPad’ ad wins bonus points for coming complete with a spoof of the iPod silhouette ads and a mock voice-over of Bono.”
While these references seem rather retro now, the line, “Please don’t make us explain how it works,” rings particularly true for many tech bloggers at this point. Check out the not-so-dated spoof below. It’s totally NSFW, btw.

NEW YORK, NY – Apple has just announced their new touch-screen tablet called iPad. However, MadTV beat them to the punch!
The world was abuzz over the expected announcement of Apple’s new tablet device. SteveJobs, Apple’s chief executive, revealed the “third category” device, which is somewhere between a smartphone and a laptop. While no one was surprised by the product, the name has brought some giggles from critics. It turns out the defunct sketch show MadTV parodied the name ‘iPad’ a number of years ago, with a very different kind of technology.
MadTV iPad Video: What’s Next? iRack and iRan? by Scott Wu | January 27, 2010 at 05:49 pm
Steve Jobs announced the brand new Apple tablet device, iPad, but it turns out the name has been around for a while. You might have dismissed it, but we were all thinking the same thing when we first heard the word “pad”. MadTV actually did an Apple parody about iPad a while back. If Mad TV can predict iPad, would iRack and iRan be next one the list?

pretty crazy that nobody at Apple did any due diligence before naming this product….
hahaha this is awesome. definitely could have thought of a better name…
i think i will pass on the ipad and stick with kotex
this is hilarious!!!!
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
I don’t wanna say!!
I’ve enjoyed Apple for sometime, they produce products that is visually gorgeous while working like a each and every time. Alot of companies aren’t able to say that, it’s usually one or the other. Companies don’t usually take aesthetics seriously like Apple. With that being said I’ve got to say that I’m very excited about the upcoming iSlate. One thing I question though, is it too soon? I think that this may be ahead of its time. What do you think?
The ipad is the next generation of gadgetry to replace the netbook, but lets face it, it is no kindle and thus the only reason to replace my netbook with it would be the battery life and apps.
Ich bin sehr gespannt ob das Apple iPad ein Verkaufsschlager wird, ich bin jedoch sehr guter Dinge. Ich selber werde mir ein iPad kaufen, nat
iPad will be just awesome.. I wonder if this will replace all those heavy college text books.
Excellent post.
What do you think of the Apple Tablet?
Man was I let down this thing should have been insane instead Steve Jobs settled for a cheap device.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.Have you tried the ipad? you can get one free at FreshGiftCard.com
I cannot wait to get my Apple iPad pre-ordered. They look unusual. I am just undecided whether to get the wifi or the 3g and which size to get.
I was reading something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read originally. I am still mulling over the various points of view, but I’m tipped heavily toward yours. And no matter, that’s what is so superb about modern-day democracy and the marketplace of ideas on-line.
The reason that no VoIP client is proffered on any 2.xG/EDGE cell phone is that response times in the overall architecture are unbearably prolonged. This is well recognized in particular sections of the mobile carrier universe; various carriers experimented with VoIP for Push-to-Talk services and gave up. Skype has too established it if you study some of the FAQ’s on mobile services. Also you would tie up masses of resources (unnecessarily), both on the device (CPU especially) and on the information network with a VoIP call. Two services offer a VoIP on the mobile phone working over a 3G service: Skype for Windows Mobile and Truphone. Both, nonetheless, admonish you that you may have extraordinary data program utilisation and costs. VoIP on WiFi works beautifully but not over wireless carrier information networks. I go back to what I have enunciated for a while now; Give me the IM on the device platform itself but use some inherent circuit switched service to establish the calls. Several recent exercises are on Skype Journal; search “Skype Blackberry” to see all the posts.
I appreciate the work that you have put in, in this page. Really good,
I don’t buy into that… I mean how should that even be possible when we’re already well into the 21st century?? What I would prefer is to start over, grab my atnt cell phones, and re-activate the entire list.
Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds

Taking the fact that the iPad has Bluetooth, there is no reason a individual couldn’t employ a Bluetooth headset and microphone with Skype to establish phone calls. This way, you don’t have to hold your iPad to your head when you make a telephone call! lol Receiving calls is some other story, I guess, if the app’s not operating.
Hellooo, I didn’t really like blogs but your blog was one of the reasons I set up my own one, too. Nice articles keep up the good work.

Out of no where. I keep getting messages that pop up stating that my computer is infected, danger, attention, etc… then it tells you to download or continue unprotected. Uniblue does make a AntiSpyware for computers called Spy Eraser. However as this one appears to be legite, its comprimising my computer. After searching for the file I found it not as a program on the computer, but as a file in System32. Every two minutes those messages come up. I can not exit the program or disable it. It appears as if its a legitimate program, an icon on the bar next to the clock and one implanted on the desk top. However I ran all my spyware programs, anti-virus’ programs and id failed to detect it. So I instaled MalwareBytes and it found it, and removed it. I ran it twice and everything else twice. Three hours later while the computer was siting, the message popped up. The icon reappeared on the desktop. The message continues every two minutes. Each message is similar but a little different from the rest. However it never changes its motive. I ran MalwareBytes again, it detected the infected files. So I did some research and found that I should use a program called RegCure to eliminate the rest of the files that were not being removed under the registry. It found 1242 infected files, and fixed them. However, I still find myself in the same boat. However I was told that I may not need to re-install the Windows, XP. Any suggestions before I move ahead on the reinstallation. santoramaa

jeez a lot of of the responses individuals write are just absurd, now and again i think about whether they in truth read the articles or blog posts and reports before writing a comment or whether they basically skim the titles and compose the initial thought that pops into their brain. anyways, it really is nice to browse through clever commentary once in a while in contrast to the identical, old post vomit which i commonly notice on the net
Hello! Wonderful idea, but might this genuinely work?

Why WOULD Apple want to send any of their IPads out to the Apple Stores for demo before they are released to sell? Because they won’t sell as many if the consumers know how much they suck beforehand! As for the “anti apple Shrils” (Gee.. I hope I misspelled that as accurately as “Gijoeinla”), we simply want something a bit more versatile, less restricted by Apple’s greed (App-Wise), and not so dumbed down that it appeals more to the masses that cannot even spell or use correct punctuation.
Hey, recently discovered your blog but I have to admit that it looks sweet. I fully agree with your post. Have a great day, keep up the great work and I’ll definitely follow it.
Very great information about the apple ipad.
“Jobs quotes Picasso’s “good artists copy, great artists steal” and adds, about Apple: “We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.”" Sorry! Jobs is 100% right… HTC, Google, just like Microsoft in the 80’s photocopied Apple.
It is also a glorified Kindle. Why buy the $500 Kindle when you can have an iPad that does a dozen more things as well, and has App access.
That’s Too nice, when it comes in india hope it can make a Rocking place for youngster.. hope that come true.
My wife will get angry if she hears that
